I have been described as being a comfortable, genuine, and down-to-earth person. I want the people who come to see me to feel relaxed, so I like keeping things informal and casual. I have over 13 years of experience in individual, child and family counseling, working with ages 10 years and up. My training and continuing consultation in Solution-Focused Therapy has been with Eve Lipchik, one of the original core members of the Brief Family Therapy Center which created Solution-Focused Therapy. I have had extensive training in trauma treatment, a particular area of interest for me. I have also gone through formal training in EMDR from the EMDR Institute. EMDR is a validated psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are a result of disturbing life experiences. It is particularily helpful for PTSD.
Overall, I want to provide people with support, practical feedback, and solutions. Every person and every situation is different, therefore I feel the best course of action is to use a personalized approach when helping people. There is no one technique or model of treatment that works with every person and every situation. I also like to use mind-body medicine whenever I feel it will help an individual; a natural and holistic approach to health and well-being.
I graduated magna cum laude from Mount Mary College with a Bachelor's Degree in Behavioral Science/Psychology and from Marquette University with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology.
